According to a local official, at least 30 terrorists have been killed or injured in the last 24 hours. Confirming fighting in the restive Qur'an-who-Munjan district, Badakhshan provincial government spokesman Nik Mohamed Nazri told Xinhua on Sunday that "17 insurgents, including some foreign nationals", have been killed and some 20 others wounded since Saturday.

According to locals, government forces have also captured Aliabad district of northern Kunduz province, from which the militants have fled. Taliban militants have captured more than 170 districts since the US-led withdrawal from Afghanistan began on May 1.
